In response to patient centred enquiries, we provide tailored evidence-based information and advice to support the safe and effective precribing of medicines
All healthcare professionals working in NHS Tayside, in either the acute or primary care setting, can utilise the Tayside Medicines Information Enquiry Answering Service. This includes NHS Tayside contractors such as GPs, community pharmacies, dental practices and optometrists.
We answer enquiries on all aspects of drug therapy. This includes, but is not limited to, enquiries relating to:
• Adverse drug reactions
• Drug interactions
• Complementary therapies
• Medicines use during pregnancy and breast feeding
• Choice of therapy (including the evidence base for a particular medicine)
• Compatibilty of parenteral medicines
• Availabilty of medicines
• Drug identification
In addition, we can directly submit yellow card reports for adverse drug reactions to the MHRA. This can be as part of the enquiry answering service or can be a standalone service.
